As students head back to school, let's all do our part to keep them safe. Please remember to:
1. Slow down in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
2. Stop for school buses when the stop arm is extended and the red lights are flashing.
3. Watch carefully for children crossing streets, getting on and off buses, and walking or riding bikes to school.
4. Put your phone away and stay focused on the road.
5. Leave a few minutes early so you don't feel rushed.

Children can be unpredictable, especially during the excitement of a new school year. A little extra patience and attention can make all the difference. Let's work together to make this school year a safe one for every student, parent, bus driver, and crossing guard.

Why should people use public transit?

People use public transit for many reasons, and it benefits both individuals and the community. Here are some of the biggest advantages:

Saves money – Riders avoid costs like gas, vehicle maintenance, insurance, parking, and repairs.

Reduces traffic – More people riding buses or transit means fewer cars on the road and less congestion

Environmentally friendly – Public transit lowers emissions and helps improve air quality.

Safe and reliable – Professional drivers and regular routes provide dependable transportation.

Accessible for everyone – Transit helps seniors, people with disabilities, students, and individuals without vehicles stay independent and connected.

Supports local communities – Public transportation helps people get to work, school, medical appointments, shopping, and community events.

Less stress – Riders can relax, read, or use their phone instead of dealing with traffic and parking.

Strengthens the economy – Reliable transportation helps businesses by connecting employees and customers to services.

Promotes independence – People who cannot drive still have access to essential services and opportunities.

Improves quality of life – Public transit helps create stronger, more connected communities

🚐 July 16 is National Rural Transit Day! 🌾

Today we're celebrating the dedicated drivers, dispatchers, and staff who help keep rural communities connected every day.

Since 2019, National Rural Transit Day has recognized the important role rural and tribal transit agencies play in helping people get where they need to go, whether it's a medical appointment, the grocery store, work, or visiting loved ones.

At Midland Public Transit, we're proud to serve our communities by providing safe, reliable transportation that helps our neighbors stay independent and connected.

💙 Thank you to our amazing team and to everyone who rides with us. Happy National Rural Transit Day!

Safe Summer Driving Tips

Summer driving brings warmer temperatures, more road trips, and higher traffic, so it’s important to prepare your vehicle and yourself for the season.

▪️Check your A/C: Hot weather puts extra strain on your air conditioning. Inspect the system and cabin air filter before travel

▪️Inspect belts and hoses: Rubber components degrade in heat; look for cracks, blisters, or cuts and replace if needed

▪️Test the battery: Heat accelerates battery wear; test at the 3-year mark and annually

▪️Top off fluids: Check coolant, oil, and windshield wiper fluid levels

▪️Check tire pressure and tread: Inflate to the manufacturer’s recommended level (not the max listed on the tire) and inspect for damage or uneven wear.
