We hope our tenants and pilots at EHR will join us on May 14th at 5:00pm at the FBO! This is an evening for the Henderson aviation community to gather, eat some good food, chat with other local pilots, and connect with airport staff.✈️

Thank you to Emily Herron from the Henderson City-County Airport (EHR) for joining us and sharing updates on what’s happening at our local airport.

A few highlights we learned:

✈️ The airport opened in 1955 and is a public-use general aviation airport owned by the City and County.
✈️ It’s located just 6 miles from downtown Henderson.
✈️ The airport has a 7,100 × 100 ft runway and supports around 10,000 annual operations with 37 aircraft based there.

Emily also shared details about recent improvements including:

• Runway extension of 1,600 feet
• Reconstruction of the existing runway
• New LED airfield lighting
• New runway and taxiway signage
• A new electrical vault

Looking ahead, the airport is working on an updated Airport Layout Plan in 2026 and exploring opportunities for business growth, community events, student tours and expanded services.

It was great to learn more about this important asset in our community and the role it plays in supporting business, aviation and economic development in Henderson.

Thanks to everyone who came to help us cut the ribbon to celebrate the completion of the Runway 9/27 expansion and reconstruction! This project represents teamwork, vision, and a shared commitment to keeping our airport safe, strong, and ready to serve our community for years to come.✈️

We are grateful for our engineering firm, our contractors, and our Airport Board for the dedication to see this project through.👏

🚜Our maintenance team has been working hard to get our runway, taxiways, and ramp safe for aircraft operations after Winter Storm Fern.❄️
✈️Pilots, be sure to check notams for current runway conditions after any weather event.

Our runway is closed for snow removal operations today and tomorrow, but we are open for helicopter traffic.🚁

✈️ We’re back!✈️
After 6 months of construction, the runway at Henderson City-County Airport is officially OPEN for business! Here’s what we’ve been up to:

✔️ Full-depth reconstruction
✔️ 1,600-ft runway extension
✔️ Upgraded airfield lighting

A safer, longer, brighter runway—ready for what’s next.

*As always, please check NOTAMs prior to your flight to EHR, our runway length has changed and we still have some taxiway closures.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Kimber Heddens, a long-time member of the Henderson City-County Airport Board. Kimber served the airport with dedication and heart and was a passionate advocate for aviation in Henderson County and beyond. His contributions helped shape our work and left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Kimber will be greatly missed, please join us in honoring his life and legacy.
