Water intrusion had caused the core in these steps to rot, leaving them soft and spongy.

All damaged wood was removed, the area was cleaned and prepped, and new marine grade plywood was installed. Multiple layers of woven fiberglass were then applied for added strength.

After buffing, polishing, and sealing, these steps now feel solid as concrete.

Next step is a clean caulk job to finish it off.

The logs on Old Hickory Lake are no joke. This Walter Drive was severely damaged after striking a submerged log hidden just beneath the surface. We replaced all underwater gear, assembled and installed a new drive, then performed a precise alignment and a full post repair inspection. After thorough testing, everything checked out and she is back up and running.

Over time water intrusion can have a major impact on the structural integrity of a boat, especially swim platforms. After removing the compromised core material, we installed new coring and laid fresh fiberglass to restore the platform to proper structural strength. This repair has given it a new life and many more years of use on the water.
