Fort Pillow State Historic Park

Fort Pillow State Historic Park Fort Pillow State Historic Park is a 1,625 acre park located in Southwest Lauderdale County in West Tennessee. The park is open 7am to Sunset, 7 days a week.

The park is home to Fort Pillow Battlefield which was the site of the Fort Pillow Massacre. This park includes 1600+ acres of conserved land and an old confederate fort. There is hiking to be done and civil war artifacts to see here. There are also campgrounds and a pavilion to rent. The staff of Fort Pillow had a great time programming for the “Founding Forward” group yesterday. “Founding Forward” is a group of teachers from all over the United States touring around different sites and learning the history. Programs conducted were museum tour, park video, civil war cannon demonstration, civil war rifle demonstration, guided hike to the restored fortification, and changing of the Mississippi River from the Observation Deck.
