Last Sunday, we received reports of a vessel operating inside the designated swimming area at Lane Beach and ultimately tying up to the swimming platform.

This type of operation is illegal, dangerous, and unacceptable.

Massachusetts boating regulations prohibit the operation of a motorboat within 150 feet of a swimming area. Locally, we take that safety requirement even further by requiring vessels to remain 200 feet from the low-water mark.

There is no justification for operating a motorboat through an area where adults and children are swimming. A vessel, propeller, or even its wake can cause serious injury or death, and this operator unnecessarily placed numerous beachgoers at risk.

We put significant effort into keeping our waterways and beaches safe for our residents and visitors. Operating a vessel inside a designated swimming area will not be tolerated.

Boaters are expected to know the law, respect designated swimming areas, and operate responsibly.

Sometimes we do things backwards!

We gently slid this customer away from their dock in the Charles River. Then we towed them out through the locks and bridges, and safely delivered them to their destination for repairs. Zero cost to the customer; covered by their Sea Tow membership.

NOTICE: BOSTON HARBOR IS A NO WAKE ZONE
Mariners are advised to proceed at slowest speed possible to minimize wake.

Mariners are advised that a No Wake speed limit is enforced in Boston Inner Harbor commencing at the Northwest corner of Logan International Airport Southwesterly across the harbor to pier seven next to the Fish Pier. Increased commercial and recreational traffic within the enforceable zone poses significant hazards when operators choose to not operate responsibly.

Mariners are advised that you are responsible for the wake your vessel produces and any damages to facilities or other vessels that may occur.
