We had a great time this past weekend celebrating National Aviation Day! Over 800 community members gathered at the West Michigan Regional Airport to enjoy the day's festivities and support Wings of Mercy.
We got to see 184 charity runners on the runway, a World War II C-47 fly locals over Holland, and families enjoy a wide range of exciting events.
A huge thank you to Wings of Mercy, Inc., Michigan Flight Museum, EAA - The Spirit of Aviation, Flight Path, Vintage Car Club of Holland, ZOMburger's and Polar Patrol for their partnership that made this event so meaningful.
We can't wait to celebrate Aviation Day again next year!

What to know before Aviation Day:

We will be kicking off the day with the Wings of Mercy West Runway 5k, followed by a pancake breakfast in one of our hangars.

Later in the morning and into the afternoon, there will be several free events for the whole family, including:
- Flights for Kids 8-17 with EAA Young Eagles
- RC Flying Club
- Flight Simulations with Flight Path
- Vintage Car Club of Holland’s Classic Car Show

As an exciting addition this year, the public will have the option to purchase tickets and fly aboard the WWII transport airplane, C-47 “Hairless Joe.”

Aviation Day is coming up!

The day kicks off with the annual Wings of Mercy, Inc. West Runway 5K at the terminal. All race registration fees go towards supporting the Wings of Mercy mission of providing free life-giving flights to patients in need.

Flight Path is an aviation education organization based right here at WMRA, offering a free introduction to aviation through their “Flight Night” program for middle and high schoolers.

They’ll be at Aviation Day on August 15, where you can learn more about what they offer the community!

The EAA Young Eagles will be joining us during our August 15 Aviation Day celebration to offer Kids ages 8 to 17 a chance to take a free flight! This is the perfect end-of-summer chance for kids of all ages to experience aviation through hands-on learning.
