Our alumni are standing out! Congratulations to 2025 Graduate Stella Nagel for receiving a Best Amateur Award from the Land-O-Lakes Classic Boat Club for her entry in their show earlier this month. The vessel taking the spotlight was none other than the Indian River Skiff she helped construct during her time in the CCBB program!

It is incredible to see the skills and craftsmanship of our students continue to be recognized after graduation. Way to go, Stella, and her build partner Pam!

Your training can open up endless opportunities! Visit marinetrades.edu to learn more about our marine industry programs.

Today at the Freedom engine shop… a Scripps V-12 displacing 894 cubic inches (14.65 liters) generating 300 HP at 2,400 RPM.

This model 302 engine arrived at our shop as a literal bushel-basket rebuild— partially disassembled with assorted parts in boxes. Today it's back in running order and ready to go back in the 1940 Hacker-designed government patrol boat. We always enjoy a good challenge here at Freedom Boat Service.

We try to avoid surprises at Freedom Boat Service but sometimes structural issues reveal themselves during the course of a repair or restoration. In this case, the problem was unknown since the owner purchased the boat from a private party years ago. The boat’s owner stepped up to make the larger investment required to keep Cinnamon Girl in the family for future generations.

There are two morals to this story:
1) It’s often a good idea to have a boat evaluated by a knowledgeable professional prior to purchase.
2) Don’t cut corners. Fix it right the first time. It will always cost much more to fix it the next time.

An unusual boat in extraordinary condition. Classic Lapstrake construction enhances the vintage boat vibe. New Listing: 1959 19' Sebino, one of the most highly regarded of the Italian boats "inspired" by Riva, very rare boat, great restoration, great condition.

There were a number of craftsmen around the lakes region near Sarnico who were inspired by Carlo Riva's genius, none more artfully than Cantiere Sebino, an "across the lake" neighbor. This model is most analogous to the Riva Super Florida, sharing engine choices and some hardware. Hull number 224. T...
