The first leg of the Road Show is in the bin! We made a trip to Southern Maryland, crossed the Potomac into southern Virginia. The overall theme of the trip is how well the corn looks for how dry it’s been.

Anne Arundel County MD (Jan.-June): 7.15 inches of rain below normal, 5th driest on record

St. Mary's County MD (Jan.-June): 8 inches below normal, 2nd driest on record

Culpeper County VA (Jan-June)- 6.2 inches below normal, 21st driest on record

Farmers we visited highlighted nitrogen efficiency, biological implementation, hybrid selection + seed quality, and late season micronutrients as a focus for 2026. Two sites we visited held off their Amidas topdress until rain was put in the forecast in early July and skipped their usual late season fungicide pass. One farm field should finish above 260 bu., with less than 100 units of nitrogen applied. 20-inch row corn had impressive late season plant health. Combines should be rolling through the earlier corn in the next 10 days!

Site 4- 156.83 bu
