Bylaws
Name: Homedale Elementary PTO
Mission Statement: Homedale Elementary PTO is organized for the purpose of supporting
and enhancing the educational experiences of our school’s students by:
1. providing financial support for programs funded outside of the school budget
Policies:
1. PTO may cooperate with other PTOs within the Homedale School district, so long as
such
PTO has similar goals and interests. Homedale Elementary PTO will not interfere with
administartion of schools or seek to control school policies.
3. Any person who is volunteering at a PTO event or serving in an official capacity must first
be approved by PTO members. The PTO will always be represented by two individuals.
4. The fiscal year of the PTO shall begin on July 1st and end on June 31st of the following
year.
5. Any parent/guardian of a student, the principal, or any teacher currently employed at the
school may become a PTO member.
6. Voting will take place for officers in the May PTO meeting. Officers serve a 1 year term,
and no longer than a 2 year term on any given committee.
7. No officer will be compensated by the PTO for their services.
8. No officer will represent the PTO alone. Every function and meeting will be attended by
two officers or members. Duties of the Board Members:
President
• preside over all meetings of PTO
• represent the PTO at city wide meetings
• sign checks/notes in the absence of the treasurer
• appoint special meetings as needed
• announce PTO meetings one week in advance
Vice President
• perform duties of president in the event he/she is unable to serve
• assist the principal with the preparation and distribution of functions
• research, write, and solicit educational grants
• act as chairperson of the fundraising committee
Secretary
• maintain all records of the PTO
• record the minutes of the meetings
• forward information to all board members
• maintain organized records of any event hosted by the PTO
• attend to the official correspondence of the PTO
• hold copy of PTO bylaws
• provide printed copy of bylaws
• prepare PTO agendas
Treasurer
• perform all banking activities of the PTO
• maintain up to date and accurate financial record of the PTO
• receive all funds of PTO donations, fundraising, and sale contributions
• audit all invoices, receipts, and pay bills as authorized by the PTO Board
• tend to all tax concerns
• complete financial report at end of fiscal year
