SERVICE ALERT: Young Brothers is working with the U.S. Coast Guard and State Departments to closely monitor Hurricane Lowell. YB will provide updates to our sailing schedules and cargo acceptance and availability as they become available.

Cargo acceptance updates:
The ports of Hilo and Kaunakakai will not be accepting refrigerated cargo on Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, or Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, for all cargo destined for Honolulu.

SERVICE ALERT: Due to forecasted unfavorable weather and ocean conditions, Young Brothers’ Tuesday Molokaʻi/Lānaʻi combo sailing will depart Honolulu on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, and sail directly to the Port of Kaunakakai in time for the regularly scheduled arrival.

There will be no changes to cargo availability and gate hours for the Port of Kaunakakai.

The barge will arrive at the Port of Kaumalapau on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026. There will be special gate hours until 3:30 p.m. for the pickup of all cargo.

The port will continue to accept Honolulu-bound cargo on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, and will operate on modified hours Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Effective July 1, 2026 all refrigerated cargo must be securely strapped or banded to pallets, wrapped in clear shrink wrap, and clearly labeled with both the port of destination and the appropriate ”FREEZE” or ”CHILL” designation on all four sides of each pallet. These standards are designed to improve cargo identification, handling, and delivery throughout the shipping process. Requirements for Preparing Refrigerated LCL Cargo:
• Cargo Securement: Secure all cargo to pallets using sufficient plastic or metal strapping/banding to maintain stability during transit.
• Clear Shrink Wrap ONLY: Only clear shrink wrap is permitted and required to facilitate proper inspection and visual identification of cargo contents.
• Labels on All Four Sides: Apply both the Port of Destination (“POD”) and the ”Freeze” or ”Chill” label on all four sides of each pallet to ensure clear visibility and accurate identification throughout handling.
• Designated Temperature Label: Ensure all temperature-sensitive cargo is clearly marked with the appropriate ”Freeze” or ”Chill” label. To print your own temperature labels, please visit our website ”Ship Your Goods/Process”page.

Named after the Kalohi Channel connecting Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i, the 286-foot-long Kalohi was specially designed to serve rural communities and smaller harbors. Its ballast technology adjusts the vessel’s height by taking on or releasing water, helping support safe operations in changing tidal and weather conditions.
