Sadly after nearly four year of being one of our favorite driver’s one of our team member’s is moving off island ☹ so we are looking for her replacement well in advance.

Island Pet Movers is hiring for a Pet Driver - this person MUST already have base access.

This position will be nearly full time and could have overtime as we are in the PCS season soon - this position cannot work around school or other job timelines as our days will vary every day depending where people are moving to.

All pets are transported in company vehicles.

A great job for the pet lovers - our most successful drivers have been bet techs or prior kennel staff.

Day one at AVMA is a wrap — and what a day it's been talking story with veterinary professionals from all over the country! 🐾

For nearly 17 years, Island Pet Movers has specialized in one thing: helping pets get where they need to go safely, whether that's a domestic move to Hawaii or an international relocation anywhere in the world. And we know firsthand that veterinarians are often the first call a client makes when a move is on the horizon — so we love using this time at AVMA to connect directly with the doctors and teams who guide pet parents through it.

If you stopped by Booth 460 today, thank you! And if you haven't yet, come find us — we'd love to talk through the best practices we've learned over nearly two decades in this industry, including how doctors can help clients avoid costly mistakes (missed timelines, incomplete paperwork, unnecessary vet visits) that add up fast when a pet relocation goes sideways. A little guidance early on can save your clients real money and a lot of stress.

Oh, and congrats again to Samantha, our first daily iPad winner! 📱🎉

We're giving away another one tomorrow — swing by, spin the wheel, and let's talk about how we can make pet relocation easier for your clients.

See you in Hall A, back right corner by the snacks!

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR ANIMALS COMING TO HAWAII

Today, June 22, 2026, Island Pet Movers, confirmed with the Hawaii Department of Agriculture that health certificates accompanying animals entering Hawaii must include the following statement due to New World Screwworm concerns:

"All animals were inspected and found free of evidence of New World Screwworm infestation."

This applies to animals traveling to Hawaii that require veterinary health documentation.

GOOD NEWS FOR VETERINARIANS:

✅ The statement may be typed anywhere on the health certificate

✅ It may be handwritten on an already completed health certificate

✅ It may be provided as a separate signed document on veterinary clinic letterhead

We know many veterinary clinics are working through these new requirements, so we wanted to share the clarification we received directly from Hawaii today.

Questions regarding Hawaii's current import requirements can be directed to:

✈️ "Can't I just do it myself?"

Absolutely.

Many families successfully move their own pets every year.

But here's what we've learned after 17 years of shipping pets around the world:

The value of a professional pet shipper isn't when everything goes according to plan.

It's when it doesn't.

Flight canceled?

We've already got alternate routing options in mind.

Weather delay?

We've probably dealt with that airport before.

Airline changes a requirement at the last minute?

We know who to call.

Import rules change unexpectedly?

We've likely seen it happen before.

The reality is that pet travel is full of moving parts, and disruptions happen more often than most people realize.

The difference is that when you've managed thousands of pet relocations, you learn how to pivot quickly and keep pets moving safely toward their destination.

You're not hiring us because pet travel is impossible without us.

You're hiring us because when your beloved family member is crossing an ocean, experience matters.

After 17 years of moving animals, you'd think the excitement would wear off. It hasn't. Not even a little. 🦜

Over the last couple of weeks, our team had the honor of moving one kookaburra and two keel-billed toucans to the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens in Hilo — and we'll just say that our owner had to be talked out of a very questionable life decision involving a "missing 2nd bird". 😂

The Department of Plant and Animal Industry escorted us from quarantine all the way to the connecting flight gate just to be sure. They weren't wrong to be cautious lol!!

Moving birds to Hawaii is no small feat. It requires proper permitting, precise timing, and a team that knows the process inside and out. Here's what that looks like:

✅ Hawaii requires a mandatory isolation period before any bird can enter the state
✅ We ship birds each month to our partner veterinary clinic in Oregon to complete that isolation at a reasonable cost
✅ Being on the West Coast also allows us to meet Hawaii's strict 36-hour travel timeline — which is non-negotiable
✅ From there, birds clear Honolulu quarantine and federal inspection before reaching their final destination

We've done this enough times that the process is smooth, compliant, and as stress-free as possible for the birds and their owners.

For this shipment, our three feathered friends flew from San Diego to Southern Oregon, completed their 7 days isolation with our USDA Accredited Avian Vet, got packed up in proper crates, and netting, and caught a 5:30 AM flight to Honolulu. Here we cleared inspection, got thoroughly photographed by our very excited team, (state inspectors included) and made their final flight to Hilo on Hawaii Island. They have already settled in beautifully at Pana'ewa.

We predominantly move household pets families — but occasionally we get a move that stands out a little more than others. We are grateful to the Pana'ewa Zoo for their continued trust in our team.

P.S. All three were raised responsibly in captivity and are heading into incredible hands. Pana'ewa is the real deal — and getting to be a small part of connecting these birds to a place where they'll be loved, cared for, and seen by the community is exactly why we do this. Conservation matters.

📩 Moving a bird to Hawaii? We've got the process, the permits, and the partner clinic. Reach out to our team — we move birds every month and we'd love to help.
