These are my photos. The Academy of Athens, the Portara on Naxos with my daughter, and the 4x4 we took out on Mykonos. On that same trip I explored Paros by car and did a farm cooking class on Mykonos. Every island deserved more than a quick stop, which is why I now start every Greece route with Athens and then limit the islands.

Here is what most visitors get wrong:

But on the same trip, Paros gave me freedom to explore by car, Naxos had quiet villages and historic churches, and Mykonos surprised me with a 4x4 outing and a farm cooking class. For many couples, one of those islands fits better than Santorini alone.
