Wanting to escape the cold of Nebraska I rented this house for a week of quiet, calm, and warmth! My sister-in-law from Orlando joined me for 4 days to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of this area of the Gulf coast of Florida. The house was clean and well stocked for cooking, eating, relaxing and resting! Many games, DVDs, Direct TV and Netflix available on both TVs (Rear bedroom and living room) as well as comfortable outdoor chairs for enjoying the view from the mostly south facing deck. Home sits just west of the main deep-water channel into Horseshoe Beach, with only a few islands obstructing the southern view of the Gulf of Mexico. Low tide reveals how very shallow the near-land Gulf waters are in this area of the Florida coast. Numerous ducks and pelicans were frequenting the shallow areas near shore, as well as an occasional sandhill crane. Previous reviews indicate occasional sightings of manatees and dolphins, but we were not blessed with sightings of either. Melissa is a joy to work with, responding rapidly via text to a number of questions I had. She provided an email with check-in instructions on the morning of my arrival, and there is a nice booklet placed near the living room TV providing local dining options (the Shrimp Boat, open only Thurs-Sun when we visited provided very good food at reasonable prices, via very friendly servers!) as well as a check-out checklist. We even had the local "donut" lady make us hot-fresh delicous donuts for one morning's breakfast! I enjoyed a perfect week and will be back for more warmth, beauty, and peaceful tranquility in future winters!
