To some, it might not be much, just some old iron. It isn't brand new, doesn't come with any new hats, new jackets, nobody took me out to lunch half a dozen times to get me to buy it. We're not the big deal this week with all the flashy paint. But to this little company that's been struggling immensely the past year, adding a second crew is absolutely critical to our survival.
I could go on and on like I'd just won a Grammy award, thanking everyone. I'll just say that I'm extremely grateful for the company I work for and the local businesses I work with and the community I live in. There truly are people left in this neck of the woods that your word and your handshake still mean something. I know this because, several.......no, most of the time over the past year, thats all I've had to offer. And because of those people, we're still standing. Beat down, bruised and tired, but we're still here. Does it mean we're all set, have it made in the shade? Not even close.
The real work is just beginning. But dammit we get to stand up to the plate and swing one more time, in hopes to keep all those promises made. I truly hope that some day I will achieve a level of success that allows me to give someone a hand up, a little more time, the break they need to catch a breath, like many from New Hampshire to Caribou and everywhere in between have done for me.
