WE ARE HIRING!!!!
Winfield Transport is seeking a new team member to assist with local routes in our Houston market. The job is a 1099 position, with competitive pay, monthly safety bonus, and monthly performance bonus.
This is an entry level position on one of our furniture/appliance delivery routes.
All furniture deliveries are door delivery (no set-up or assembly), and all appliances are Samsung appliances. If the applicant has more experience with appliance install, the starting pay will be higher than base.
Each team is a 2 person team, and this open position will require heavy lifting, and knowledge of installing appliances.
REQUIREMENTS-
-Pass a background check.
-Pass a drug screen.
-Handle oneself professionally.
-Ability to assist carrying furniture, and appliances (with a dolly, lifting straps, etc.) up stairs when needed.
-Applicant must have a minimum of 6 months experience in this line of work.

The calm before the storm. This site was still in recovery from the freeze last week, and was prepping for an expected 5 inches of rain today and tomorrow.

5000 pounds of tea
Unfortunately, I had to return it to the shipper. Upon leaving their facility, I noticed the BOL and rate con had different drop locations, and different brokers names.
It was discovered to be double brokered when I called the broker on the BOL.
I was contracted to take it to Dallas, but the load was expected in California.

Carriers should always show up with the requested equipment. On the left, our truck gets offloaded safely, and efficiently with the requested ramp to complete an already difficult offload at a construction site.
On the right, they had to use a homemade ramp, using a piece of the customers load to support the improvised ramp. That truck took twice as long to offload, and as you can see, puts safety of the crew in jeopardy....and cost the customer a piece of the load!

When receiving freight for our customers, its essential to inspect the freight for a few reasons.
1) Delivering freight damaged before we received it could lead to a claim against Winfield Transport Services, in which case we are responsible for another parties improper handling.
2) Helping our customers identify problems within the supply chain.

On the load below, our driver noticed that the product had a severe lean on the pallet. Damage to one of the bottom boxes was identified, and both the customer, and packaging company (origin of load) were notified.
We were informed by the customer that they have been losing a substantial amount of product recently due to shipping damage, but had enormous issues identifying exactly where in the supply chain the damage occurred.
The two parties were finally able to locate the problem, and move towards resolution.
We were extremely happy to help resolve this issue that was costing a small business not only money, but short falls on their inventory heading into the holiday season.
