Learn to teach an adaptive sailing course at your club or sailing center ⛵️♿️

American Yacht Club is hosting an Adaptive Sailing Instructor course on May 28, 2024. The course covers all aspects of setting up and teaching an adaptive sailing program.

Topics include:
🔹Facility requirements, disability types/populations, breaking down barriers to participation
🔹Safety requirements
🔹Volunteer/staff training and a detailed overview of how to correctly adapt your equipment (or what equipment is available to purchase)

A heavily interactive course, attendees will go through a variety of exercises to help them better understand what’s required to teach sailors with disabilities. This is a three-day, 25 hour course.

From the extraction of fossil fuels and plastic disposal to the global resistance fighting back, The Story of Plastic is a life-changing, Emmy-winning film depicting one of the world’s most pressing environmental issues. There are a lot of new ideas and complexities discussed in the film, so in 2020, Algalita created a film processing worksheet to help students synthesize their thoughts and emotions while watching the film. It's a helpful activity for folks of all ages to deepen their understanding about plastic production and plastic pollution.
