PASSPORT vs. BIRTH CERTIFICATE: WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR A CRUISE? 🌎

Did you know that on many closed-loop cruises (leaving from and returning to the same U.S. port), U.S. citizens can sail with an eligible government-issued photo ID and a birth certificate? A passport isn’t always required!

🛂 So why do I still recommend a passport?

If you miss the ship in a foreign port or have a medical emergency that requires you to fly home, traveling without a passport can get complicated quickly!

A few important tips:
🎒 Keep your passport secure in your carry-on, not checked luggage.
📅 Passport expiring soon? Check processing times at travel.state.gov.

✨ My advice as a travel advisor: A birth certificate may work, but a passport gives you more flexibility when the unexpected happens!

But what’s the difference?
And is the upgrade worth it?

✨ Often the more budget-friendly option!

👟 My travel advisor tip: After a long day walking around the Disney parks, a shorter walk back to your room can be a big plus! But if saving money is your priority, a standard room may be the perfect fit.

If you’re staying at Universal Orlando, I personally think the Signature Collection hotels are worth considering — especially because your stay includes Universal Express Unlimited! 🎢 🎉 Being able to skip the regular lines can make a HUGE difference, especially during busy times.

But here’s the thing… 🧐
Universal’s other resort hotels are still AMAZING! You don’t have to stay at a Signature hotel to have a great Universal vacation.

You’ll still get:
✨ Early Park Admission
✨ Complimentary transportation
✨ Great theming and resort amenities
✨ The convenience of staying in the Universal bubble
✨ And more!

So, is a Signature hotel worth it?
👉 For me, YES — when Express Pass is a priority.
