Safari packing has its own rules, and we learned a few of them firsthand. Swipe through for what earned a spot in our duffle (and what we’d leave home).

We’re packing these duffles again in May, this time with a small group headed to Zambia and Zimbabwe. If Africa has been on your list, send us a message.

We believe the best souvenir isn’t something you display. It’s something you do.

A pizza dough recipe from an afternoon in Bruno’s garden on Lake Como. A bocce ball set that gets everyone outside once the weather turns. A sundowner ritual borrowed from the African bush, fifteen minutes to watch the light change. A paella party every December 23rd, six years running now, that started with a cooking class in Spain.

These are the habits that stayed with us long after the trip ended. We wrote about all of them, and a few more, on the blog. Link in bio if you want to read the rest, or to start planning the trip that leaves you with a new tradition.

Things I should be doing on a Saturday: catching up on about 47 things I didn’t get done this week.

What I’m actually doing: deciding which destinations best represent Taylor Swift’s four new songs.

In my defense, I was listening to the new songs, started thinking about the stories behind them, and apparently my brain is now incapable of experiencing anything without bringing it back to travel.

So here we are.

Patient Zero became Berlin. Cleveland! took me to Copenhagen. Pink Clouding could only be Lisbon. And Babylon had me looking across the water at Lake Como.

There are probably more productive ways I could have spent my Saturday morning, but this was much more fun.
