”Routine Maintenance”. An underperformed and underappreciated term. No matter how much of it you think you do, there are times where things get missed, or just forgotten about. Trying to stay on the road as much as possible without any downtime is crucial in this game. But routine maintenance plays a huge part in staying in the road.

I had a little hiccup yesterday. One of my u-bolts snapped and i lost all the leaf springs except the one thats bolted in. Thats all my axle was resting on when this happened. There was a place just down the road from me that sold the parts i needed. So i ended up being able to limp it to their place and get it all fixed up enough to get it home. Thank you to everyone over at Extreme Trailers of Texas that lended a helping hand. These guys let me use their yard, forklift, and even their floor jack to help get everything fixed up so i wouldn’t have to do it on the side of the interstate. They even set up a canopy where i was working so i wouldn’t get rained on the entire time. Very much appreciate the help guys 💪🏻

Made it back home safe, and ready to start another day. This could have turned out a lot worse than it did.

On I-10 Westbound, headed into Houston area. I was able to go around before getting caught in all of this. Traffic in both directions are pretty much at the standstill. Multiple vehicles involved. Keep your GPS on. Its near the Anahuac/Liberty exit. Looks like it’s going to be there for a while due to the cleanup of whatever was in that tanker. Prayers for all involved 🙏🏻

I don’t know about you guys, but when i do a transmission service on my rig, i like to take every precaution to keep things clean. And then immediately make the biggest mess possible 🤦‍♂️💀

Well, I missed the Kodak moment of hitting 300,000 miles by just a couple this morning. I have definitely had some moderately expensive repairs within a one year period. As a matter of fact, she’s going into surgery again this afternoon. I usually do all of my own repairs to cut down on the cost. However, removing to broken exhaust manifold bolt out of the head and right up against the firewall, is a little more extensive work than what I can do at the moment.

Overall though, she been pretty good to me, given the abuse she has been put through over the last 3 1/2 years. Hopefully this will be the last major repair for a long time. We shall see though 🙏🏻💪🏻

But this thing comes in at a whopping 3,071 lbs!! 🤣🤣 A 14.3L with 1,000 hp at just 2,600 RPMs? Cummins Inc. has been holding out, it seems!! This is fantastic engineering, to say the least.

Now, just to get our lovely EPA to approve shoving this bad boy into a 3/4 ton or 1 ton without choking it down to where it can’t even function properly anymore.

Can you imagine the endless possibilities that these companies would have if it weren’t for such ridiculous legislation, coming from people that have NO IDEA what they are actually talking about? Or if they just didn’t have an alternate agenda in mind? Yeah, that would be great. Let’s see where these next 3 years go though, I suppose.

One can wish 🤷‍♂️
