Jackson - Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport / Hawkins Field

10/20/2026

You see the terminal. You see your gate. You see your flight take off.

But some of the people helping make your journey possible? You may never see them.

This Air Traffic Controllers Day, we’re celebrating the professionals supporting safe, orderly air traffic at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) and Hawkins Field (HKS).

Their work is one important part of the coordination happening behind the scenes while our communities travel, reunite with family, welcome visitors and connect to new opportunities.

Because flying home should feel like coming home—and every journey deserves a team working together to help it happen.

To our air traffic controllers: We see you. We appreciate you. THANK YOU! 💙✈️

✈️ We don’t talk enough about this Jackson aviation story that is truly worth knowing.

Hawkins Field (HKS)—an important part of the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority’s airport system and our region’s aviation story.

While Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport connects travelers to destinations across the country, HKS serves a different but equally important role in our aviation network through general aviation and the activity it supports.

Together, our airports represent more than runways and aircraft. They are assets that support connectivity, opportunity and the continued vitality of our region.

Our aviation story has deep roots, and its next chapter is still being written.

HKS: Part of our history. Essential to our aviation network. Connected to our future.
