Cecil Airport

Cecil Airport Cecil Airport, one of four airports in the Jacksonville Aviation Authority system, is Northeast Florida's premier aerospace development site.

Cecil Airport is truly one of the nation's most unique general aviation facilities. Strategically located in sunny Jacksonville, Florida - one of the best places to live and work in the Southeast US and home to beautiful beaches, a world-class military community, and the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars - Cecil has something to offer everyone:

• Thousands of acres available for aerospace developme

nt, with 150 of those shovel-ready.

• The only FAA-licensed horizontal-launch commercial spaceport on the East Coast.

• Florida’s third-longest runway at 12,500 feet. In fact, Cecil has a total of FOUR runways: two others at 8,000’ x 200’, and another at 4,400’ x 200’ – over 4,000,000 square feet of takeoff and landing space. We can accept any aircraft in production in the world – from a Lockheed C-5 Galaxy to a Cessna 172. And at the same time, too, with our twin parallel configuration.

• An award-winning FBO in Jacksonville Jetport.

• Renowned commercial and military MRO tenants Flightstar Aircraft Services and Boeing. We are a premier development site, a crucial piece of Jacksonville’s logistics network, and an “avgeek” paradise all in one! Please don’t hesitate to contact us. We live and work by the motto of the Jacksonville Aviation Authority – “Going beyond, daily.”

Congratulations to our partners at Boeing - last week they celebrated the 1,000th F-18 to be serviced at their Cecil Airport facility. Now a tenant at Cecil for several decades, their campus at the airport has grown considerably. Boeing's investment is further proof that Cecil is one of the premier destinations for MRO work in the entire world.

Our hearts go out to the Bennett family as well as our colleagues at the Jacksonville Port Authority. Prior to his time at the port Jim worked at FDOT. He always saw the vision of what Cecil Air and Space Port could become. Jim’s work at FDOT helped turn Cecil from a derelict BRAC facility into a premier industrial airport facility.

On Monday, Northeast Florida not only lost a great transportation advocate for the region, but also a great human being. We join his family, friends and colleagues in mourning his loss. But we also celebrate his life and many accomplishments. He will be missed.

We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of our colleague and friend, James Bennett, who was killed in a car accident this morning. James dedicated his life to improving the quality of life for people in Northeast Florida, and our entire community is better for his service. He was a valued member of our leadership team, overseeing two of our largest departments—Operations and Engineering—and serving as a trusted liaison for many of our port partners.

James brought extraordinary dedication, skill, and heart to everything he did. His work ethic was unmatched, and his commitment to our mission elevated everyone around him. He loved his work and the people he worked alongside, and in turn, we were all made better by working with him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was an exceptional human being whose spirit filled every room he entered. His loss will be felt deeply across our organization.

We ask the community to join us in praying for James’ family during this extremely difficult time. We are forever grateful for his leadership, his friendship, and his service to our port and to Northeast Florida.
