🚨 Heads Up, Drivers! 🚨
Brake Safety Week is August 23–29, 2026, and CVSA will also hold an unannounced one-day Brake Safety Day sometime this year. 🗓️🚛
Inspectors across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico will be conducting North American Standard Level IV brake inspections, with special attention on brake drums and rotors—this year's area of emphasis. 🔧
📊 Why it matters:
During the 2025 unannounced Brake Safety Day, inspectors examined 4,569 commercial vehicles. Of those, 398 vehicles (8.7%) were placed out of service for brake-related violations, with 32 brake drum and rotor violations identified. Those vehicles were not allowed to continue until repairs were made.
🛠️ Be inspection-ready:
✔️ Check brake drums and rotors for cracks or damage.
✔️ Inspect hoses, slack adjusters, and other brake components during every pre-trip.
✔️ Address brake issues before they become roadside violations.
A few minutes of inspection can help keep you, your load, and everyone on the road safe. Stay prepared—Brake Safety Day can happen without warning. 💪🚛
