Yanno.......I was kinda raised around trucking. My paternal grandfather drove for a while. Also, my father and maternal grandfather both worked in industries that had them in frequent contact with trucking. When I married, my husbands family was all involved in trucking in one way or another as well. All of the men I knew between north and the age of 40 who drove a truck were fine upstanding gentlemen. They may not have been perfect gentlemen, by any remote definition of the word.

Most of them were a bit rough around the edges, that’s for sure. I was excited to enter the world of trucking when that time in my life rolled around, as all of my experiences with drivers were of the old fashioned ‘knights of the road’.

They were a dying breed. I just didn’t know that. I have met a few more of them during my time on the road, but they are few and far between. Now there is a different breed of driver out there. Not one I am interested in being associated with, either.
