The most recent forecasts show we’re in for a stormy weekend in Glacier National Park. The weather here is unpredictable and can be extreme, so if you’re planning to visit, it’s best to do a little extra planning.⛈️
Visitors should be prepared for thunderstorms and cooler temperatures throughout the park, with higher elevation areas like Logan Pass facing colder temperatures and maybe even snow.
For the most enjoyable visit, no matter the weather, here are some suggestions:
💻Visit a Visitor Center or Ranger Station (or the park website or app) to check the latest park conditions, weather forecasts, and whether there are any active alerts or closures.
👚Dress in layers to ensure you’re comfortable during sudden changes in weather conditions. Always have a raincoat or poncho ready to help you stay dry.
🥾Wear sturdy shoes or boots with traction to avoid injury.
✋Slow down. Roads and trails can be slippery and visibility poor in rain and snow, so slow down and play it safe.
🏡Plan to have a backup plan. Don’t let the weather ruin your trip. If the weather takes a turn, have an indoor plan ready to save the day.
