Severe Thunderstorms are erupting out near the Nebraska border stretching south into central Kansas. These are going to organize and head towards KC arriving this evening. There is a tornado risk today, so let's keep a close eye on these thunderstorms. I will check in later.

A Severe Weather Outbreak is likely late Monday afternoon and evening. Northeast Kansas is the target for what may end up being a tornado outbreak. The map on the left shows the likely surface set up and this map is a forecast for 7 PM Monday. There is a triple point, the L, the low pressure center near Gage, OK. This is looking like an ominous set up for an outbreak with strong tornadoes possible. Kansas City is on the southeast edge of the significant risk. Areas like Lawrence and Manhattan, Kansas are more directly in this risk. The map on the right shows that the Storm Prediction Center is targeting this area with a rather high 15% probability of a strong tornado within 25 miles of any spot in that red dashed region. Let's all pay close attention to this on Monday.

Goooooooood morning! While we get ready for day 5 of 🌈🐕 Rainbow & Sunny’s Great Adventure, Kansas City needs to pay close attention to severe weather risks developing and targeting Monday. Here is one of the models targeting areas just north and west of KC, and the risk from the Storm Prediction Center. Today, thunderstorms are southeast of KC this morning, and it is clear here in Wickenburg. We are jumping into the car with our destination of Palm Desert, CA this afternoon. I will be monitoring the weather closely. Have a great start to Saturday!

Goooooooood Afternoon - Another wild week of weather is underway! The first map shows the forecast for around Midnight tonight… and the second map shows how dramatically things may evolve by around 1 AM Wednesday. 2 feet of snow is possible near Estes Park, and here in Golden, CO, I may see 4"+ of snow depending on the track of the storm system. Meanwhile, notice the thunderstorms developing near the front in Kansas City tonight. There is a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe thunderstorms as this system begins to organize. From heavy mountain snow… to cold rain… to severe thunderstorms… spring weather is putting on quite a show. I’ll update you later this evening as we watch for evidence of this developing.

It's Friday Night In The Big Town! And, it is also April Statistics Day! While Kansas City had 7.50" of rain (KCI) and over 10" in spots, Golden, CO continued the dry season that began with this year's LRC last fall. We just keep getting missed. It is usually very green by May 1, but not this year. Andy, Sunny, Rainbow, and I hope you have a great weekend.

Goooooooood late afternoon! Don’t tell me we went straight from winter to summer and skipped spring—because this is excellent spring weather heading to Kansas City. Temperatures may drop into the upper 30s to lower 40s over the next three to four nights, and things should dry out a bit as we settle into a much more classic spring pattern. Meanwhile, here in Golden, Colorado, I may even see some snow later this week—yes, snow. That’s spring in the Rockies. If you watch this video, stare at the LRC maps I am showcasing and maybe it will come into focus what I have been sharing with you for over two decades, here is today’s video: https://youtu.be/LlVxcNYf6L8
