This was posted by one our volunteers regarding the late trains and buses on Friday. Onhttp://www.trainorders.com/

The reason for the Starlight being so late is both tracks north of Vancouver, WA, had high water and mud over the rails. I volunteer at the Kelso, WA, depot. #11 came to a stop there as did Cascade 501. Buses were called out and the passengers on #11 stayed on the train until the buses arrived. There were well over 100 passengers off of 501. Those were taken on to Portland and the train returned to Seattle as #504. The passengers off #11 came through the depot waiting room and around the north side of the building to enter buses as they arrived. The sleeping car passengers were first, then business class coach then regular coach. I would guess there were over 100 passengers. All the luggage in the baggage car destined for PDX was taken off and transferred to the buses. When I ended my shift at the depot at 4:30 p.m. the Starlight was still there waiting for clearance to deadhead to PDX. It is scheduled to leave Kelso at 12:19 p.m. I must say the crew on #11 did a great job of handling the situation. The conductor, Darin, took charge in a gentlemanly manner. I told him I did not envy his job as it appeared at one time like trying to heard a large group of cats. The good is that the trains are running again.
