LINK is glad to take you to the library in Salem or Twin Lakes. They are a fabulous resource with amazing events, activities, and selection for all. If you are at the library and don't see what you are looking for, the librarians are always willing to help you, and you can get inter-library loans to have items brought to your local library. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed a law creating the annual observance of Hispanic Heritage month.

Transportation history in the U.S. is marked by many of Hispanic heritage.
*The first FAA Administrator, Elwood Richard “Pete” Queseda
*The first U.S. Secretary of Transportation (1993-1997), Federico Peña
*Nuria Fernandez is the first Senate-confirmed woman of color, as well as the first Afro-Latina to lead the FTA.
*Flora Castillo was the first Latina and sixth woman elected chair to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) in 2012 and served as their spokesperson. She has been honored for her work in public transportation with a focus on health, safety, equity, and homelessness

This month, we honor the history, culture, and achievements of our Kenosha County residents who can trace ancestry to Spain, Portugal, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Free Memory Screens will be available at Twin Lakes Library on Monday, September 21, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Offered by the ADRC's Dementia Care Specialist, memory screens can provide relief for individuals concerned about normal memory loss, lead to diagnosis of treatable conditions and offer the ability to make lifestyle changes early when they have the greatest potential for positive effect and the opportunity to participate in making future decisions. Screening results are not a diagnosis, and individuals who have concerns are encouraged to pursue a full medical exam. Appointments are recommended. Call the Twin Lakes library at 262-877-4281.
