Sun Valley/Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) Earns Rare “Discrepancy-Free” FAA Part 139 Inspection

Hailey, Idaho — April 6, 2026 — The Sun Valley/Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN) has achieved a perfect score on its most recent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 139 annual inspection, earning the distinction of a discrepancy-free audit, a rare accomplishment among commercial service airports nationwide.

This milestone follows a series of recent successes for the airport, including a “no findings” annual comprehensive financial report in January and a fully compliant Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security audit last summer.

✈️ Attention SUN travelers ✈️

This evening, due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, the DOT and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an emergency order requiring air carriers to reduce their total daily scheduled domestic operations by 10 percent at 40 different “high impact airports.”

Both Salt Lake City (serviced by Delta Airlines) and Denver (United Airlines) are included on the list of impacted airports.

At the time of this posting, no airline flights into or out of SUN have officially been canceled yet. Over the coming days, please continue to check with your airline for official flight status.

Please remember to be kind and respectful to airline staff as they have no control over the federal government shutdown affecting airspace capacity constraints.

And please remember to say thank you to the TSA who continue to work without pay.
