💰There’s a whole lot of expenses to consider when planning a trip. Here are a few that a lot of my clients didn’t think about before we started planning:
✈️Transportation. Are you going to fly? Take a quick look at recent flight prices to your destination before you tell me your budget. Flying is expensive right now and while there can be some good deals from time to time, it’s best to budget for the average price range to your destination.
🚗Parking fees: a lot of hotels have a self parking fee per night. If you’re flying somewhere, you’ll need to pay for parking at the airport. If you’re staying off property at Walt Disney World, but driving to the Parks, you’ll need to pay for parking there. Be sure to be aware of these fees.
🏨Hotel stay: Are you going on a cruise? You really should arrive to your Port at least 1 day prior to make sure you’re there on time for embarkation and you’ll need a hotel. Don’t go for the cheap one necessarily! I will share with you my client’s favorite hotels for that Port and it would be better to pay a little bit more than be in a sketchy motel for the night.
💰 Tips: Bring some extra cash for tips. Luggage handlers, room service, housekeeping, bar staff, etc. If you have not included prepaid gratuities on your Cruise, this will be billed to your room at checkout. Please, please do not remove the gratuities and not give your attendants a tip! They work so hard to make your trip enjoyable!
🛍️Souvenirs: I literally get asked all the time how much money people should bring for souvenirs and that is one question I simply cannot answer for you. It totally depends on your spending style. My family will no doubt spend differently than yours. But I do know you will want to budget for it!
🚕 Rideshare services or public transportation: if your trip will include things like an Uber or Lyft or the train, (like in Europe), those are costs that you’ll want to be sure you are budgeting for.
