It is a welcome entity that interest is brewing about completion of the Rt. 138 highway in Southern RI. I am now encourage to again
express my thoughts about continuing Rt. 138, connecting to Rt.
4 north to the Amtrack Rail line location, heading south
just past the URI campus and rejoining the antiquated present
Rt 2. There are 18,000 people that love URI, there are people that
love Newport that form our tourist income pattern and there
are just the residents like me that are disappointed that the
third most congested area in the sate is overlooked. It is time
for action while it is still feasible to use land that is mostly
unbuilt upon. It is time to flood the DOT with letters of

I have written the DOT concerning the lack of attention to the
transportation element of Southern RI but have not followed up
on it for awhile. I will. The completion of 138 from Newport
to 95 has deadened in North Kingstown at route 1 and therefore
getting more and more difficult to find the pathway north of URI
to Rt 95. Now that I am relating this delemma possibly DOT
has another idea like continuing 138 up Rt 4 to the railroad
and then south to rt .1 with an interchange to the northwest of
the URI campus eliminating the 3rd most congested area in the
state, according to DOT. [email protected]
