Have to have four points of contact as you can see in the photo. When the machine is over 10, 001 pounds. But it doesn't stop there. Also have to cover the 50% of the weight of the equipment for securement. In the FMCSA if your chain and binder does not go to the other side of the trailer you will only receive 50% of the working load limit of the chain and binder. I'm using 3/8 g70 chain and a 3/8 binder. Both rated at 6600 lb. I only get half that because it does not go to the other side of the trailer. This is why there is a chain on the bottom of the lift to cover the remaining requirement for the 50% of the load.
