Last week, the Port of Buffalo was presented with the Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award at the American Great Lakes Ports Association Conference in Chicago. This award recognizes Great Lakes ports that have achieved a year-over-year increase in international shipping tonnage.

The 2025 shipping year marked the sixth time that the Port of Buffalo has been a Pacesetter Award recipient. With a 132% cargo volume increase from 2024 to 2025, the Port of Buffalo led the way amongst all of this year’s winners.

Behind every vessel arrival to the Port of Buffalo, there is a stevedoring crew hard at work. 👷👷‍♀️

The Port of Buffalo proudly partners with one of the industry’s leaders, Castaloop, to safely and efficiently unload bulk and breakbulk materials from ship to dock. Using specialized equipment such as a 230-ton crawler crane and a 55-ton gantry crane, Castaloop helps the Port of Buffalo deliver dependable, high-capacity cargo handling services for a wide range of different commodities.

The Algoma Intrepid arrived Sunday and has been offloading salt ever since. Here, the salt will be screened, packaged, and distributed for deicing use.

Back in the spring, Grand Quai and Port de Montréal challenged us to a friendly wager around the Buffalo Sabres vs. Montreal Canadiens playoff series.

While it took us some time to get over the loss (as well as focus on some critical port projects), we are still holding true to our word.

Lifelong Sabres fan and Port of Buffalo GM, Scott Simmons, was a good sport as he made his way around the port wearing a Habs’ jersey, borrowed from Mike Taylor of LOGISTEC.

Congratulations to both teams on their memorable seasons! Now, bring on next season! 🏒
