Hello everyone,

I wanted to pass along a volunteer opportunity for anyone interested in helping with Osceola Wheels & Wings on Saturday, September 12.

Scott, the Air Show Director, is looking for pilots and aviation-experienced volunteers to help with flight line operations. They are expecting a busy morning of GA arrivals along with special aircraft, static displays, and air show performers.

Volunteer duties may include GA aircraft arrival and parking support, aircraft movement coordination, ramp support, aircrew and performer assistance, crowd line support, and general flight line coverage.

Saturday volunteer check-in begins at 7:00 AM, with the event opening at 8:00 AM. The busiest GA arrival period will be during the morning, with the air show beginning at noon and wrapping up around 3:00 PM.

You do not need to commit to the entire day. They are happy to work with volunteers in shifts, so even helping during the Saturday morning rush would be appreciated.

There will also be an opportunity to help with air show practice on Friday, September 11, beginning around 3:00 PM. This would give volunteers a chance to get pre-briefed and become familiar with the flight line and operating areas before Saturday.

Breakfast, lunch, and volunteer parking will be provided.

If you are interested, please contact Scott directly with your availability:

This looks like a great opportunity to support a local aviation event and spend some time around some interesting aircraft..

Another plane wash in the books!

A big thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to help wash and clean up the fleet. It’s always great to see our members working together to keep the airplanes looking their best.

Plane washes are about more than just clean airplanes – they’re a great opportunity to catch up, talk flying, and enjoy some time together as a club.

A big thank you to Scott Hanson for presenting his safety seminar on data trend analysis downloaded from the aircraft.

Hello Tailwinds Members,

Thank you to everyone who came out for the plane wash last night. We had a great turnout, and the Archer and Dakota were washed and detailed in record time! Also, it was a good evening to celebrate our very own Rob Mason for achieving his CFI.

A special thank you to Michael Johnson and his wife for providing and grilling delicious hamburgers and hot dogs for the group. We would also like to thank Jordan Ziebarth for stocking the hangar supplies, and taking care of the trash removal. Thank you as well to Mark Shanahan for providing additional tug training and member checkouts throughout the evening. To wrap up the evening, Mike Labore provided a seminar on aircraft ditching in the water and a background on Coast Guard operations.

Our next plane wash is scheduled for Saturday, July 18th at 9:00 AM.

Blue skies,

Steve Diercks
