Beyond the waterfalls, the Foz do Iguaçu region in Paraná, Brazil, is one of the country’s most productive farming areas. Its fertile red soil allows farmers to harvest soybeans and corn in summer and wheat in winter. Poultry, pork, and dairy are also strong, along with tilapia farmed in the Itaipu reservoir. Many family farms help protect the rivers and springs that feed the Iguaçu and its national park.
