My honest travel philosophy: if the meals weren’t memorable, did the journey even happen? From the hotel breakfasts to the yia-yias cooking like they’ve known you for years. So when I design a celebration trip for my clients, the food is never an afterthought. No good celebration in history ever skipped the food.

And a very full-hearted thank you to , my in-country partner and host in Greece for every incredible meal, every introduction, and for keeping me impressively well fed from Athens to Crete. 😄

It’s 91 degrees in Seattle today, and in a few months, we’ll be clamoring for warm weather to be back.

Now is the perfect time to book that winter escape, before the best rooms, the best rates, and the best flights disappear. Mexico and the Caribbean make it easy, tiki drink in hand, sun dropping over the water, everything you’ll be craving in January, waiting for you now.

Who can relate? 🤣

The most expensive hotel or the priciest restaurant is not always the best.

I have stayed at properties that cost a small fortune and left me wanting more, and I have found quiet, unassuming spots that felt like magic from the moment I walked in. What you pay and what you receive do not always align, and the traveler who understands that distinction travels smarter for it.

These scenes are from my stay at the JW Marriott in Crete , where every dollar spent felt earned.

Knowing where to splurge and where to hold back is exactly the kind of judgment call I help my clients make. It is not about spending more; it’s about spending well. I see your trip as an investment.

Sometimes the splurge delivers. Sometimes it does not. Knowing the difference is its own kind of luxury.

“Have you heard this word budgét? I think it’s the opposite of boujee.” 😂

Here’s the version of that word that comes up in my world. A lead says “no budget” and means it as a compliment, like it opens every door, but it can actually close one.

Think of it this way. You wouldn’t ask a contractor to build your dream home and refuse to tell them what you want to spend. They’d be designing in the dark, guessing at every material and finish, hoping it lands somewhere close to what you imagined.

Travel design works the same way. A number isn’t a limit. It’s a language. It tells me whether we’re designing around a private villa in Santorini or a boutique suite. It directs whether to look for a private sailing on a catamran or a shared one with a small group. And they can still be extraordinary. They’re just different stories.

So if you’re working with an advisor and they ask about budget, know that it isn’t small talk. It’s the first sentence of your story, and we can’t write the rest without it.

Hello, sunshine! ☀️

Today is the summer solstice. The longest day. The sun at its most generous.

According to Greek mythology, Apollo was born on the island of Delos. The god of the sun, light, music, and prophecy first opened his eyes here, on this small sacred island in the middle of the Aegean.

A few weeks ago, I sailed past this very coastline on a catamaran from Mykonos. There is something quietly moving about looking out at the place where, for the ancient Greeks, the sun itself entered the world.

Wherever you are today, may this longest day remind you that light, like a good story, always begins somewhere worth visiting.

C & J were booked for Jamaica to kick off the New Year and celebrate their anniversary. Then Hurricane Melissa had other plans.

I coordinated their entire rebooking under pressure and against the clock, moving them to Sandals Regency La Toc in St. Lucia. Before they departed, I sent them all they needed to know about the resort and tips on traveling to St. Lucia. iAnd while they were there, I checked in with a personal note to make sure everything was exactly as it should be.

They ended up loving St. Lucia so much they have already rebooked for the same week next year. It is now their annual anniversary retreat, kicking off each new year exactly where it should be.

The resort cat, for what it’s worth, was also non-negotiable about the sun lounger.

Be honest, how do you like to travel? Pacing is the difference between a good trip and arriving home needing a vacation from your vacation.

It’s one of the first things I think about when designing a journey. Not just where you’re going, but how you’ll move through it. Where the exhale lives.

The best memories don’t come from squeezing in one more thing. They come from having space to actually be somewhere.
