We recently installed an NMEA 2000 network on this Bass Cat, connecting the Yamaha 250 SHO to the owner’s Lowrance HDS 12.
The goal was to give the owner a much better view of what his Yamaha is doing while he’s on the water. With the NMEA 2000 network communicating between the engine and Lowrance, he can now monitor important engine information right on the HDS 12, including:
• Engine RPM
• Engine temperature
• Oil pressure
• Engine oil information
• Battery/charging voltage
• Engine hours
• And other available engine data and alerts
NMEA 2000 essentially allows compatible marine electronics and equipment to communicate with each other over one network, giving you a centralized place to view important information.
A clean install, proper networking, and getting the electronics configured correctly makes a big difference when it comes to reliability and knowing exactly what your engine is doing.
