I hope everyone has enjoyed the weather the last few days in February. This is certainly unprecedented for us during the wintertime. I’m looking forward to the rain we’re supposed to get tomorrow. I hope that the rain doesn’t spoil anyone’s Valentines Day plans. So far, 2026 is off to a pretty good start. So far, I’ve entered 83 reservations into the system for this year. This morning, I rolled over 60,000 miles on my 2023 Tesla Model Y that I purchased in July 2025 with 35,000 miles on it at that time and I feel like it is the best car so far of the 50 that I have owned. However, I am in a loaner this morning as I had to take my car in for a new windshield and a tire rotation at Tesla, so they gave me a 2025 Model Y in the color I was trying to find in July and it’s definitely a slick vehicle. No I’m not moving on to #51, yet! 😊
I try to say this as often as possible to everyone in the newsletter but I feel like it merits repeating. I have been blessed in my adult life to have stumbled into two of the best jobs a person like me could ever have. My full time job that I started the first time in 1995 working with individuals with disabilities and opening my airport shuttle service that I started in 2006. I had a conversation with someone the other day on the phone who stated they hoped I would be taking some “me” time. I explained to them that thanks to all of you and my shuttle work and thanks to all my co-workers and the individuals I work for at my full time job, for a person like me, working and driving is my “me” time. I appreciate the trust the each and every one of you has put in me and what I enjoy doing for the last 20 years and for the opportunity to be affiliated with the same full time organization on and off for the last 31 years. I look forward to many more at each job.
When you receive your confirmation emails, please review them as they contain all the information that you need to know about the pickup process of going to or coming from the airport. Please also review them for their accuracy in case I’ve made a mistake. If you receive flight change information as it pertains to your departure from or arrival into Kansas City. Lately airlines have been making a lot of last-minute changes to flights. I want us all to be on the same page with flight information and times, it makes pick-up and drop-off times more efficient if we all know what each other is doing.
In 2026, I will NOT be running shuttle service on the following holidays: New Years Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. I WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE on the following dates: May 10th – May 18th.
Please don’t use 3rd party messenger programs to request a reservation. I seldom check messages on Facebook, Next Door, Yelp, etc. for several days at a time. If you leave a message there, it may unfortunately get overlooked. For reservations, please always use my phone number or business email below. Please note that I don’t make reservations based on a text. There is too much information I need and keep when making reservations.
You will also likely notice that over the last year or two with all the “spam” calls and junk calls that I get, I’m doing more screening of calls, so please leave a voice message if you want to make a shuttle reservation or send an email. I am also often driving and can’t answer immediately but I will respond to your voice messages or emails as soon as I can.
All shuttles are private car shuttles and not shared. All shuttle services offered by SDM Transportation are carried out in the early morning, evenings, overnights, weekends and on some holidays. Advanced reservation is required with at least 24-hour notice (based on availability). Because I do work a full-time day job, I am not available for shuttles between 7:30am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Weekday shuttle departures must leave no later than 5:00am. In general, on the weekday evenings, it’s 5:30pm before I can get to the airport to pick someone up or 4:45pm to pick someone up in Lawrence to take to the airport. I also require that multiple people as part of the same reservation be picked up and dropped off at the same location.
