Lake County Tourism Panel The Lake County Tourism Panel exists to take care of our community by promoting tourism. We do this What is the Tourism Panel?

It is the marketing arm of our community. The Panel is funded with lodging tax collected in our county and city. Full-time lodging properties and short-term home rentals must collect a 1.9% lodging tax. The tax is paid by visitors, added to the cost of their stay. An all-volunteer board created by law to administer the tax, the Panel spends the funds to market the community. Our current officers a

The Lake County Tourism Panel is looking for a Marketing/Community Outreach Assistant to further its work promoting Leadville and Twin Lakes, Colorado, to visitors.

Duties:
Develop communication and distribution strategy focused on educating local businesses and local leadership on the value of tourism as an economic driver and engaging local businesses in sharing information for tourism promotion. Build sustainable, long term partnerships with local tourism ambassadors (at Visitor Center) and build and maintain visitor data tracking system. Build long-term capacity so that the tourism approach program is able to continue attaining its economic development goals by the end of the VISTA project. This will ensure the gains made by the VISTA are sustained and economic development of the community continues to support those in poverty. Build capacity for the Lake County Tourism Panel in order to grow job opportunities. Data collection and professional development which will ensure that the VISTA program is effective and provides qualitative and quantitative evidence of its progress.
Required Skills:
Experience with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram platforms
Knowledge of best practices developing social media content and social media etiquette
Experience in writing digital marketing content
Interest in building relationships with local businesses
Good communications skills
Deadline-oriented and available for quick turnaround when needed
Collaborative team player

Experience or willingness to learn:
MailChimp and WordPress CMS or similar communications programs
Hootsuite or a similar social media scheduling platform, for posting and reporting
Photo editing
Basic html for minor formatting

Preferred Skills:
Experience using data to drive content decisions
Experience managing social media for a business or nonprofit
Experience with and knowledge of a broad range of communications technologies
Familiar with basic database management
Skills in building partnerships
