4TH OF JULY WEEKEND UPDATE: Reservations are completely FULL for the holiday weekend for beach and campground camping at Lake McConaughy and Lake Ogallala. However, as always, there is NO LIMIT on day use. Admiral's Cove Resort and Marina still has beach camping available to reserve. You can also call Arthur Bay RV Park to check on open camping spots. A REMINDER TO camp on the beach your reservation is for. Since all reservations are booked, you will not be allowed to change your beach number. You will be required to move.

Fireworks are not permitted at the state recreation areas. The City of Ogallala is hosting a FREE DRONE SHOW Saturday, July 5 at 10 p.m. at Western Diamonds Sports Complex.

The water temp reached 66°F on the north side near the dam this week, and we're heading into prime boating season. Please remember to be courteous and respectful of fellow boaters and others enjoying the lake. A few boating regulations and reminders to pass along:

Boats must maintain a distance of 30 yards from shorelines, docks and other watercraft. The lake contains over 985,000 acre feet of water to spread out and enjoy.

It is unlawful to wake jump with a motorized vessel within 50 YARDS of another craft.

Swimmers have the right of way at all times over all vessels.

Boats must not follow a skier closer than 200 FEET.

Boats must stay at least 150 FEET away from areas with diver down flags.
