New Broker Alerts

Back again this week with another update on the list of freight brokers to watch out for from Baxter, Bailey, and Associates. Please understand this is not a complete list, but a sample of companies that have been placed with us, due to unpaid freight bills.
In addition to this list, several large companies have stopped operating and we are helping our clients through the court proceedings. Companies like Surge Transportation, Meadow Lark Agency, and Yellow Logistics.
But the vast majority of what we see are companies that never intended to pay carriers. Several double broker schemes that are promising huge amounts when they never intend to pay at all. You can avoid these companies, for the most part, with a little more due diligence.
Does their address make sense? Meaning are they a new broker listed as being on a very expensive piece of real estate, that turns out to be a virtual office or mail center? Those are big red flags.
Is the only number associated with them a toll free number? Not a disqualifier but when they are too many things that don't look right, it is probably best to look at other loads.Â
Pricing? You have to be honest with yourself on this. If the price is too good to be true, often times, something is off. The easiest way for someone not to have questions asked, is to offer an amount that is better than all the rest. A lot of people have feelings that a load might be too good to be true, yet move it anyway. Taking a chance, if you will.Â
