The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting Shred Day on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Lincoln County Courthouse parking lot (225 W. Olive Street, Newport, OR 97365).

This free event open to the public can help reduce the risk of identity theft and financial fraud. Community members are welcome to bring their personal paper documents or media containing sensitive information such as files, canceled checks, CDs, or DVDs, medical records or bills, etc. and they’ll be securely shredded on-site by an iSecure truck.

There’s no limit on how much you can bring, but keep in mind that once the truck is full, no additional materials can be accepted. Please note that this event is intended for personal use, not large quantities from businesses or government offices.

If you have questions about the event, call 541-265-4912.

North Lincoln County residents, we have exciting news!

The Recycling Center on Hwy 101 is now a RecycleOn Oregon Center. What does this mean? You can now recycle aluminum foil and trays, shredded paper in a paper bag, plastic lids and rigid plastic handles, plastic buckets and pails, and plastic bags and stretchy plastics here in Lincoln City.

Come by Monday through Friday 8am-5pm or the 1st Saturday of every month from 10am-1pm to check out the new bins and bring your materials. As a reminder, none of these items can go into your mixed recycling besides the plastic buckets. All of these recyclables have responsible end markets where they are made into new materials. Check out our website for a full list of Recycling Center accepted items: https://www.northlincolnsanitary.com/Recycling/BeyondTheCurb

This is an ecological tragedy that can be avoided. Contact North Lincoln Sanitary Service for pickup at your home (just $9 for an off-rim passenger tire) or take it to the Schooner Creek Refuse Transfer Station yourself (just $4 for an off-rim passenger tire). We take them all to be recycled!

Officials and tire recyclers say proper disposal options are available and warn that illegally dumped tires pose environmental and public safety risks.
