Long post alert. Several messages coming out, all of them equally important and in no order of importance, but highly appreciated if you take the time to read
1) when discussing quotes, I understand sometimes my quote is higher. I value my work. I know the level of work I can do. To compare my work to the work of a semi hauling 5+ cars, or a hotshot hauling 3+ cars, we’re talking different ball parks. When your car pulls onto my trailer, it doesn’t get pulled off until delivery. It doesn’t get shuffled around to accommodate multiple people. It happens for you to receive special care, protection, and focus for your car individually. There’s no worry about rock chips from the road, fluids from hydraulic lines or other cars getting on your car, risking your car with it being shuffled around, and at the very simple level….weather and privacy.
2) with that being said, when a car quote doesn’t work out, it’s never been a problem for me to go find other work in hauling campers.
3)the last camper I hauled has been one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve had outside of cars in my entire career of transport work. The company I am contracted to haul campers with was hired by FEMA to bring units to Louisiana to help aid those left without a home after Hurricane Ida earlier this year. I would always rather find a way to help physically, I feel it means more to me.
4) if it wasn’t for this FEMA haul, I had no reason to stop at Capitol Hill in Jackson, Mississippi where I met Lance, Bill, and Tim(pictured). I met a handful of people on the road. Tim stuck out. For being 57 (and I am 27), we exchanged life stories for my entire visit that ended up being longer than I originally planned. Two completely different walks of life and generations just sharing life experiences and stories. It would take much longer to explain past that, it was nothing short of one of the best conversations of my life.
5) last but not least, some have noticed lately I have been hauling cars for a guy who makes YouTube videos based out of Florida. He doesn’t need much of an introduction, and take it from me, I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities because he’s one of the most genuine person I’ve met since I started and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of what he’s doing. I’ve shown the 180sx, FC, and ae86, but now I can finally share the most recent one… The Formula Drift spec c6 corvette he bought as a project to finish.
