The City of Lockport’s Events Planning Committee sponsors the Hometown Heroes Banner Program for Niagara County’s Service members both living and deceased.
– The City of Lockport’s Events Planning Committee’s Hometown Heroes Banner program honors Niagara County servicemen through a Hometown Heroes Banner Program. Each banner honors a specific Niagara County serviceperson and includes his or her name, branch of service, and photo. Banners will be displayed on street lamps in Downtown Lockport along Main Street and East Ave from Transit to Washburn from mid-May until mid-November. Events Planning Committee Chairman, David Wohleben said, “We are very excited about this program which honors the brave men and women of Niagara County who have served their country through military service. We want to show servicemen and women that we truly appreciate their selfless service to their country and its citizens. It will also enhance visual interest to our expanding downtown. Lockport is proud to have this opportunity to show our thanks to our veterans and military servicemen. The banner program is a great reminder that many proud men and women from our community have served our country. The freedom that we enjoy every day is due to their selfless work and we want to demonstrate our thanks.”
