Embark on a unique exploration of the northernmost reaches of the Great Bear Rainforest, a region of unparalleled natural beauty and ecological significance. This expedition journeys off the beaten path into the Khutzeymateen Valley, offering discerning travelers an exceptional opportunity to witness remarkable wildlife amidst the pristine tranquility of the northern British Columbia coast. This exclusive voyage combines several premier wilderness experiences, including unparalleled grizzly bear viewing in one of Canada's most secluded and productive habitats, searching for orcas and humpback whales, and exploration of the region's beautiful outer islands and majestic fjords.
This is a live aboard sailing yacht with a Naturalist we met in Churchill. All meals included. This is from Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Access with Zodiacs to get close to the bears. In addition, we'll visit a sea lion colony and, if lucky, will have some whale encounters.
I have 4 spots tentatively reserved and 5 left. May 29 to June 4, 2027. We will need to arrive the night before. Air Canada flies from Vancouver. Hotel first night additional but I will help with arrangements. $5670. $2000 deposit required. Travel insurance required as trip cost is non-refundable. This is an outside guided service. Deposit refundable upon replacement.

For those that don't know, I've been traveling to arctic locations for 13 years and have seen the lights during every trip. That means I've gone through a solar max and a solar minimum and back to solar max.

Although solar max definitely kicks up more activity, it is most noticeable in the lower latitudes. The upper latitudes frequently see lights whenever it's a clear sky. They even get epic shows from very little data points that we need locally to see shows at the horizon.

Do yourself a favor and book the trip! We still have room in October and March. Can't commit to an entire 9 days? Message me for one-night tours. Join the group.

Bummed about the lack of epic shows in the mid-latitudes? Even minimal data creates great aurora displays in Alaska. It's easy to get there and with an experience guide, you will see a show. (or many!)

Join us for Fairbanks and north! Openings still in October 2025 and March of 2026. Solar max is winding down and heading to solar minimum in a few years. The time is still ripe for epic shows in the Arctic. Let's go!
