What Is a TCP Number?
A TCP number stands for Transportation Charter Permit, issued by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

This permit allows companies to legally operate as charter party carriers, which means they’re authorized to transport passengers for hire in vehicles like luxury sedans, SUVs, sprinters, or limousines.
When a company holds a valid TCP number, it means:
They are officially registered and licensed by the state.
Their fleet has commercial insurance coverage for passengers.
Their drivers are background-checked, drug-tested, and trained to state standards.
Their business operations meet California’s safety and service regulations.
Without a TCP number, no company can legally offer limo or black car services for hire in California.
