Pedal Movement

Pedal Movement Pedal Movement activates communities through sustainable transportation. We understand what bicyclists need because, first and foremost, we are bicyclists.

At Pedal Movement, we know you want alternative transportation to be a viable option for the community. The problem is that navigating cities by bicycle can be dangerous, and owning a bike is expensive and requires technical knowledge, which leaves people feeling fearful and discouraged. We believe that when more people use bicycles for transportation, streets are safer and communities prosper. Th

at’s where we come in, to remove barriers-to-entry for bicycling and help transform the way our city moves. That’s how we’ve helped the City of Long Beach become one of the top 10 most bicycle friendly cities in the US. We simplify the process of making cities more accessible by identifying unique transportation challenges and tailoring strategic solutions to meet them. Pedal Movement is in the business of making cities more accessible so communities can be healthier, safer, and more livable for everyone—one revolution at a time.

You’re in the bike lane, everything feels smooth…

…and then it just ends 😐

🚲 Lane disappears
🚗 Cars take over
↔️ Now you’re figuring it out mid-ride

Short or disconnected bike lanes can break trust in the system.

For bike share programs and everyday riders, consistency matters. A connected network is what makes cycling feel like a real option.

This is where infrastructure and operations need to work together, not separately.

The difference between a bike share program that works and one that doesn’t usually comes down to operations:

🚲 Where bikes are placed
🚲 How often they’re serviced
🚲 How quickly issues are handled

Cities that treat bike share as part of the transportation system tend to see higher ridership, stronger integration with transit, and more consistent usage across neighborhoods.

Pedal Movement focuses on that day-to-day reality. Maintenance, rebalancing, and long-term operations that keep the system usable and available to all.

For agencies planning or improving bike share programs, we’re here to support what comes next: https://pedalmovement.com/partner-with-us/

Transportation is something most people don’t think twice about. Until it’s not there.

We partnered with GP Care Packages to donate bikes that support individuals who have been unhoused. 🚲

A bike can mean getting to work on time. Making it to appointments. Having a way to move through the city without relying on others.

It’s a simple tool, but it opens up real opportunities.

Partnerships like this are one way bike share programs can extend beyond infrastructure and directly support the community. 🩵

Pedal Movement started with a simple idea and a bigger goal behind it.

The focus has always been on what bikes make possible for people and for cities.

Today, that work shows up in neighborhoods, schools, and partnerships that make everyday movement more accessible and more sustainable.

Every ride helps reduce congestion, lower emissions, and create a healthier way to move through the city.

Watch how this work is shaping a more connected and accessible Long Beach.

May is National Bike Month! 🚲

It’s a good time for cities to look at how active transportation fits into the bigger picture.

Transportation costs are rising, and at the same time, it remains one of the largest contributors to emissions. That puts more pressure on systems to offer reliable alternatives.

Bike share programs help:

🚲 Support first and last mile connections
🌱 Reduce strain on roads and congestion
🏙️ Expand access across neighborhoods

When they’re operated consistently, they become part of how people actually move through a city.

Pedal Movement works with agencies to build and maintain systems that hold up long term.

Mobility should support people throughout every stage of life. Students traveling to school, workers commuting across town, and older residents running daily errands all benefit from transportation that is accessible and reliable.

Bike share offers a flexible way to move through a city without needing to own a car. When systems are designed with accessibility and usability in mind, more people can participate in the life of their community. 🚲

Cities that invest in mobility options for every age help create environments where independence and connection are easier to maintain.

Cities designed around people create transportation systems that are easier to use, safer to navigate, and more responsive to everyday needs.

When streets support walking, cycling, and shared mobility, riders gain more options for how they move through their communities. These choices help reduce congestion, improve access to jobs and services, and support healthier neighborhoods. 🌿

As more riders choose bike share and active transportation, cities have an opportunity to design infrastructure that reflects how people actually move.

Meet Bailey, our Customer Service Manager. 🚲

For the past 6 years, Bailey has been a steady part of the team, helping support riders and keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Their favorite part of the role is building a team of talented people they genuinely enjoy working with every day. That collaboration carries into the day-to-day as well, with the Customer Service and Operations teams working closely to respond to bike issues, recover equipment, and support riders across the system.

It is the kind of work most people do not see, but it makes a real difference in how the system shows up for the community.

Outside of work, Bailey uses their 4 day workweek to spend more time on creative hobbies like costume and prop making! ✨📸

It takes a great team to keep the wheels turning.
