Take a look back at highlights from the Port of Long Beach’s inaugural Small Business Summit, where business owners, buyers, public agencies and industry partners came together to learn, connect and explore opportunities for growth.

We’re grateful to everyone who came together to make the day a meaningful one for our small business community, including Mayor Rex Richardson, CEO Dr. Noel Hacegaba and Board of Harbor Commissioner Bonnie Lowenthal. We were also pleased to host Erikk Aldridge, Vice President of Impact and Legacy for LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games, and Isabel Casillas Guzman, Founder & President of Avenida Advisors, for a fireside chat.

🚧 SCHEDULE CHANGE – I STREET PAVING WORK STARTS at 7 P.M. TONIGHT!

Paving work is scheduled to begin tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 7, on I Street between Anaheim Street and the Terminal Island (103) Freeway ramps.

Please plan ahead, follow posted signs and detours, and use caution when traveling through the work area.

What to expect:

🌙 Nighttime work 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. over several nights
⚠️ Roadway grinding and paving, striping and loop work
🚧 Lane closures and detours will be in place (follow the signs)
🚛 Expect possible delays and allow extra travel time
🚫 Temporary No Parking restrictions will be posted and will be permanent after the work is complete

📍 Location: I Street, Anaheim St. to SR-103 ramps
Start: TONIGHT AT 7 P.M. – Wednesday, Oct. 7
Duration: Several nights, weather and construction conditions permitting

🚧 Starting Nov. 7, the Vincent Thomas Bridge will close for 16 months, but the Port of Long Beach remains fully open and operational.

We’re planning ahead to keep cargo moving and minimize impacts across the San Pedro Bay complex by working closely with our partners and community members — including marine terminal operators, the ILWU, Harbor Trucking Association, our Harbor Patrol and regional partners — to prepare for the closure and maintain smooth operations. Through collaboration and proactive planning, we’re focused on supporting smooth operations throughout the project.

📦 Extra measures are already underway. Two weeks before the closure starts, we’ll launch a six-week extended gate program designed to help manage cargo flows and minimize traffic impacts.
