Finally getting around to sharing some highlights from my China trip with Silky Way, exploring the beauty and culture of southern China! 🇨🇳

First stop: Guangzhou! A city where the history and charm of old Cantonese neighborhoods meet the sleek, trendy side of modern China. From traditional streets and historic architecture to dazzling skyscrapers and a colorful skyline along the Pearl River, Guangzhou is full of contrasts!

More stops and adventures to come!

Guangzhou by night, from the Pearl River!

A night cruise along the Pearl River is one of the best ways to take in Guangzhou after dark, with the city’s illuminated skyline unfolding along both sides of the water.

And of course, you can’t miss Canton Tower, affectionately nicknamed “Skinny Lady” (小蛮腰) for its signature curves. From the river, you get to see her from just about every angle.

Definitely a fun way to spend an evening in Guangzhou.

Our first evening in Guangzhou began in a beautifully restored old house tucked away from the busy streets. ✨

Vintage stained glass, dark wood staircases, quiet corners, and a private Cantonese dinner made it feel more like being welcomed into someone’s home than simply going out to eat.

For us, travel is about these moments — discovering the character of a city through its food, its history, and the places you might never find on your own.

The perfect start to our Guangzhou journey. đź’š

When the train ride becomes part of the China experience. 🚄✨

Business class on China’s high-speed rail offers a fast, comfortable, and seamless way to travel between destinations. During our journey, we enjoyed a complimentary snack box and soft drinks, a dedicated check-in lane, access to the business lounge, and staff assistance directing us to our carriage.

It was a smooth and enjoyable part of our visit to China—an experience I look forward to sharing with future clients.

Most people think a trip to China is about checking off big cities.

But this is the part people remember most.

In Guizhou, we slowed down and stepped into village life — wooden homes in the mountains, traditional songs, local craft, and moments you can’t really plan for.

It wasn’t just sightseeing.
It was connection.

Watching our guests learn, laugh, and participate with the community is exactly why we design our trips this way.

This is the kind of travel that stays with you long after you get home.

Guizhou, China — with Silky Way.
