Day 294 — My Last Stop in Nevada Before Utah

What would you take if this was your last chance to find supplies?

I made one final stop in Nevada before heading east. I found water, a few cans, some bandages, and an old road map. It isn’t much, but out here every small thing can keep you alive for one more day.
Now Nevada is behind me. Hill Air Force Base in Utah is the next destination.

Day 293. Would you follow the only route with proof… or chase the routes that simply disappeared?

I finally made my choice. Hill Air Force Base in Utah is the only destination I can actually confirm one of those C-130s reached. Boise and Las Vegas are still unanswered questions.

So I’m leaving Reno behind and heading east.

Before I go too far, I need to decide one more thing: follow the route straight toward Hill, or make one last supply stop in Nevada.

Day 292 — I finally found where one evacuation flight made it

After days of following dead evacuation records, I finally found a confirmed arrival. One C-130 from Reno reached Hill Air Force Base near Salt Lake City. Boise and Las Vegas are still unresolved.

Day 292 — Three evacuation routes. Only one may have survived. Three routes left Reno — but which one actually made it?

The records point to Hill AFB, Gowen Field, and Nellis AFB. Civilians were assigned to all three, but the arrival logs are missing.

Day 292 — I found out why Reno’s civilian flights stopped

I followed the commercial flight trail through Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Some flights actually departed, but then delays spread, crews disappeared, and cancellations took over. The remaining evacuees were redirected into emergency airlift processing. Now I’m following that trail.

The old evacuation route through Reno leads toward Reno-Tahoe International Airport. I have not reached it yet, and I do not know what is waiting there. But after so many unanswered questions, a real destination feels dangerous to hope for.

The city was empty, but the route was still there.

In downtown Reno, I found a weathered evacuation marker that had survived years of sun and neglect. It did not tell me where the people ended up. It gave me only one direction—and another reason to keep walking.

Would an old route marker feel like evidence to you, or just another dead end?

Day 292 — I found who took over Reno’s evacuation

The civilian system collapsed, but the evacuation didn’t end. I followed the trail to the Nevada Air National Guard and found records showing the 152nd Airlift Wing took over civilian transport with C-130 missions. Some of those flights actually departed. Now I need to find where they went.

I finally saw Reno with my own eyes.

After miles of empty highway, I walked beneath the Reno Arch. Reaching the city should have felt like victory. Instead, the silent streets made the distance I had traveled feel even heavier. Everything was still here except the people.

I found proof that the evacuees were moved into a separate emergency airlift system at Reno–Tahoe International Airport. But I still don’t know which flights actually left—or where they went.
