is a student organization at the UCLA that aims to address the current health disparities faced by the Native
Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities in the greater Los Angeles area. These health disparities arise from an array of social determinants, which Pacific Islanders for H.E.A.L.T.H. will address through a holistic approach.To promote a healthier Pacific Islander community we will focus
on the following objectives:
H – Health: Members will help promote a healthier lifestyle in the Pacific Islander community by
engaging in health, nutrition, and fitness workshops organized by student healthrelated
organizations on campus. E – Education: Increase the number of Pacific Islander health professionals by facilitating access
to higher education and cultivating an interest in healthcare professions. A – Access: Increase access to health resources by hosting an annual Native Hawaiian and Pacific
Islander Youth Health and Fitness Day in collaboration with the Pacific Islands’ Student
Association at UCLA. L – Language: Advocate for culturally competent health care information that meet the linguistic
needs of Pacific Islanders to ensure proper health services, screenings, and treatments. T – Training: Provide health professional development for members through mentorship, clinical experience, and other appropriate trainings. H – Heart: Promote heart disease awareness through education and action to help decrease the
rate of heart disease mortality amongst the Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community. Winter Quarter General Body Meetings are on every other Thursday (Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) 7 pm- 8pm in SAC basement level room 4
